Why go on a dive boat if you just want to snorkel?
SMALL
GROUPS – 30 Max
In keeping with our philosophy of low impact
tourism, WAVELENGTH
takes only a maximum of 30 people on each tour. This is the
lowest group number of any Outer Reef operator in Port Douglas,
Australia. Our commitment to sharing the unique Great Barrier
Reef environment with small groups, allows you to explore this
place of incredible beauty and awesome diversity, in a very
unique and personalized way. Our professional and attentive
crew ensures that each and every passenger’s needs and expectations
are met.
Our philosophy
comes straight from the founder of Wavelength and Eco Tourism
pioneer- Steve Simpson. This excerpt taken from an interview
for the Sydney Morning Herald in Oct 2004 :
"My
basic philosophy is that by taking people out to the reef, telling
them about the reef and our concerns for the reef; they actually
become aware of the issues and go and talk to other people.
The more people know about it, the more they are likely to put
their hands up and rant and rave about it. If it is locked away
and untouched, no one really knows or cares about it"

DEDICATED TO SNORKELLERS
A visit to the Great Barrier Reef can be a once
in a lifetime experience so you want to make every moment count.
WAVELENGTH is the
only operator in Port Douglas that dedicates every facet of
the day to Snorkellers and their unique requirements. Whether
you are a novice or an experienced free-diver we provide the
Great Barrier Reef sites, the time and expert advice that allow
you to truly experience the world’s most diverse eco-system
up close and personal. 90% of the Great Barrier Reef diversity
occurs in the top 4 meters of water so snorkeling is the most
enjoyable and relaxed way of immersing yourself in this environment.

EXCLUSIVE OUTER REEF SITES
In over 20 years of operation WAVELENGTH
have picked the best snorkel sites within the Port Douglas area,
and have installed many exclusive use moorings, which cover
the full range of reef types, distribution of plant and animal
species and a variety of snorkeling conditions. Through our
huge choice of Great Barrier Reef sites we endeavour to reveal
as many aspects of the Great Barrier Reef as possible in one
day. On any given day, WAVELENGTH
guests can experience three different areas with contrasting
fish, coral and plant populations.

GREAT BARRIER REEF & ECO-TOURISM PIONEERS
WAVELENGTH
is one of Port Douglas’ original Great Barrier Reef tour operators
and is still owned and operated by eco-tourism pioneer Steve
Simpson. Steve’s keen interest in conservation and his love
of the Far North reef system has led to WAVELENGTH
becoming leaders in reef conservation.
WAVELENGTH is one of
only two Great Barrier Reef tour companies in the area to have
been awarded Advanced Ecotourism Accreditation by the
ECOTOURISM
ASSOCIATION OF AUSTRALIA.
Our
focus is on providing information and education in a relaxed
informal manner. It is our belief that is the most effective
way to ensure long term survival of this World Heritage gem.
It is for this reason that you will always find a qualified
marine biologist on every WAVELENGTH
Great Barrier Outer Reef Tour. Our marine guides & qualified
marine biologists will guide you through this massive living
organism through on-board educational presentations, reef ecology
discussions and guided snorkeling tours.
